What do you mean by “Women,” what about trans/femme/non-binary people?

We use words like women, ladies, girls etc, but want to clarify trans women are women. For the non-binary folks out there, having the gendered name "Women's Woodshop" is not intended to proliferate gendering people. What we hope the name signifies is that we use non-patriarchal styles of teaching honoring support over competition. This space is for non-binary crafters too!

What does non-binary mean?

Non-binary is a term for folks that are gender fluid and don't align with male or female gender roles. People also use gender non-conforming as a term to describe gender fluidity.

Why do you offer co-ed classes?

Co-ed classes are offered because men have different learning styles too. Women’s Woodshop provides a space where men can learn in a supportive community with no expectations of experience based on gender.

I can’t afford it. Can you help?

We have a scholarship program funded by sales of our instructor's goods, please email us.

How can I get involved?

If you got skills, propose a class! We are always looking for volunteers also.

What is safe attire?

Closed toed shoes, non-dangling clothing (drawstrings can get caught in rotating equipment), something you can get dirty.

What is your age minimum?

We are 18+ currently. Please check out Leonardo's Basement for awesome courses for your kids!

Do you offer private classes?

We sure do! Typically private courses run about $400 for a total of 8 students. If mobility is possible (spoon carving) we can relocate to your party for a $50 log lady fee.
